Kindergarten

We just attended kindergarten registration for this wee little one.  I was so sad and not wanting her to grow up while we were getting ready to go.  Joey on the other hand is so excited for the kids to grow up and see what they do with their lives.  When we walked into the school I could smell the cafeteria food mingled with crayons and glue and I decided that I would just come with her all through elementary school.  Not because I don't want her to go anymore, but because "I want to go to there".  (If you don't watch 30 Rock, don't ask.)  Joey on the other hand decided that he no longer wants his children to go to school.  Apparently his years at Castle Heights were not the best of his life.  Wait until the kids are in High School...then he will be on board.  (As long as they get the Carlson popular genes and not the Prince band genes...thanks Dad.)

Are you living in Price, still? Jameson won't start kindergarten until next year (October birthday), but we're getting him registered for preschool. We have mixed feelings. I'm hoping to be able to quit my job after the baby comes (yes, I'm pregnant, due in August), and so I want one more year with my baby. But then I'm reminded that I'll have a three-year old and a brand new baby, so it might be nice to have one gone for part of the day...isn't motherhood great? So many conflicting emotions...

You should tell that Jennie girl that if she lives in Price, I am opening up an awesome preschool this fall, just thought I'd throw some advertising into your blog.

I was so sad when Shaelynn went to Kindergarten. I understand how you feel. Is it only half a day there? That was a good for us only having half a day. I'm not to excited about first grade and gone all day.

When we registered Nanette for kindergarten I remember being embarrassed because I had to fight back tears. Not sad tears, but excited for her tears because of everything she was going to learn. When Katie went two years later it was old hat and I missed those emotions. Enjoy all the firsts!

Hey, I was no nerd--I was among the top 99% of the coolest kids in band!!

I had tons of fun with the Prince band genes! Just so you know, it doesn't get any easier when you send your second to school. Kindergarten is awesome. It is sad that they are growing up, but it is exciting at the same time.

I can't believe Gwyn is going to be in kindergarten. Where have the years gone? Ethan will be 3 this year and before I know it I will be signing him up for kindergarten. Crazy!

Nice, Sarah. I live in Tennessee (I'm Suzi's cousin). All the preschools here are run by the churches. I'd be sure to sign up for yours, though, if I lived in UT.

I can't believe that Gwen is old enough for Kindergarten! She is getting so big! She is such a cutie! Definitely going to be a heart breaker!

Hey! I never even took band with my Prince genes!! Ha Ha! and I was not popular and was a complete nerd. I'm glad Melissa was so super popular! But I did wear the same pair of jeans all my senior year! It was the first year girls could wear jeans and I only had one pair. Once I overheard my (may he rest in peace) father-in-law tell my kids that they had inherited the dirty Prince genes from me!!! We were staying in his apartment in SLC and there were 7 of my kids in one little apartment and they left their toys or clothes laying around or something and I heard him say that to them. Boy was I ANGRY!!! I never stayed with him again! So now we know even more about what people think of the Prince genes! (And Steven - you did not take band either - but I'm sure you were not a nerd like me, I'm sure you were super popular like all my siblings, but me)

That's awesome that you like 30 rock. I love that show! I actually used that line "I want to go to there" today!

You weren't a nerd Suzy. And Dad was in band, Aunt Elaine must have forgotten.
Your first day of kindergarten was pretty stressful to me. You grew up way too fast!

She is so adorable! My baby is starting kinder this year, and your oldest, weird. Makes me feel OLD. It is REALLY hard to see them go, but you can be pretty involved in the process and then it's pretty fun. I pretty much LIVE at my kids school. I'm just finishing the yearbook tonight and I run a reading program for community volunteers. . . it's nice to be "part" of the school, you should get involved. . . at least 2 days a month you can work in the classroom or something. . .that's how I started out when my oldest started school. . .xo, love you and can't wait to see you this summer, S
